Q: how long have you been doing this? can i trust you with my vintage or boutique amp?
A: i have a degree in electronics engineering and 40 years experience as an electronics technician. i have been in business as an amp tech since 2008, and i am a properly licensed and insured business. i will respect and care for your gear while it is in my shop. i save any replaced parts and return them to you.

Q: what brands of amps do you work on?
A: I work on just about any amp with tubes and I also repair vintage solid state amps. i don't avoid certain amps because they are difficult to work on, that's just part of the job and i don't mind a challenge. working on amps is my "fun job" and i really enjoy the work. In general I do not work on modeling amps or digital effects.

Q: Do you do mods and upgrades?
A: yes! i am not a "tinkerer" or "mad scientist" but i do proven mods and upgrades. let's discuss your ideas!

Q: do you have a bench fee? will you give me an estimate?
A: this is how i operate: I do have a bench fee. for the bench fee i will work on your gear for up to an hour. if i can repair your gear in an hour or less and i don't need any parts, i will go ahead and make the repair and you will owe only the bench fee. i have repaired quite a few amps for the bench fee. if more parts or work are needed, i will give you an estimate for repair and you can decide if you want to proceed. if you accept the estimate, the bench fee is waived. My clients agree that this is fair and reasonable.

Q: do you guarantee your work?
A: i stand behind my work and if there is an unresolved issue, I will make it right. we will test your gear when you pick it up to ensure it is repaired to your satisfaction. I provide detailed service reports of the work that has been performed, and i will review the report with you and fully explain the work that has been completed.
Q: what is your turnaround time for repairs?
A: my clients will tell you that i tend to work pretty fast for most issues. my typical turn around times are 2-4 weeks, but i frequently get repairs done much sooner. if specialty parts are needed this can delay completion as i may have to order those parts.

Q: what are your shop hours?
A: I work by appointment only. this allows me to focus on you and your gear during your appointment. give me a call to discuss your issue and to set up a mutually agreeable time to drop off.

q: do you have the necessary parts on hand? do you sell vacuum tubes?
A: I have all the most common parts on hand, including vacuum tubes. I am not a tube reseller, but i keep tubes on hand for repairing amps. My tube prices are a bit higher than the internet, i can't compete with bulk pricing. you are welcome to supply your own tubes, but i do offer a 90 day warranty on the tubes i sell. infrequently replaced items like transformers will have to be ordered.
